Parents and Scouts:
Scouts and Leaders have the unique opportunity to volunteer in the Great Day of Service on Saturday, March 29th.
Mr. Steve Kelley, Assistant Scoutmaster, has built a meaningful day of restoration and service for our neighbors in Western North Carolina who are still in need of support to restore their properties and communities following Hurricane Helene.
We have an opportunity for 15-20 Scouts, ages 12-18 alongside Adult Leaders for this important service project in Boone.
All the details and how to sign up: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/t934-great-day-of-service-2025-tickets-1290714153779?aff=oddtdtcreator
- Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (approximate time frame for return)
- Our project is a location that was flooded and is still filled with trash and debris which is in need of clearing, removing and organizing debris, tree branches and removing dirt and debris from several outbuildings
- For safety reasons, we will not be working in unsafe conditions such as taking down large trees with chain saws, being on roof tops or working on or in ponds, streams, etc. We will need to bring some gas powered chain saws and will have Adult Scout Leaders along who are skilled and experienced to operate chain saws or power equipment, if required.
- Wear clothing for outside work to include full length work pants, class B Scout T-shirt, hat, work gloves and a warm, light weight jacket to wear during the cooler morning hours. Also, consider bringing sunscreen and a poncho in the event of rain.
We do hope you can join us for a wonderful and restorative Great Day of Service!
