Our weekly meeting will be tomorrow, Monday 31st, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Please ensure your scout arrives with the following:

  • In Class A uniform with their shirt tucked into their pants.
  • With their Scout book.
  • Without a cell phone or distraction device.  

We are looking to add 2-3 additional Leaders to join us for the Carolina Beach Camping Trip!  Carolina Beach makes for a really fun adventure!

Parents and Scouts:

Scouts and Leaders have the unique opportunity to volunteer in the Great Day of Service on Saturday, March 29th.

Mr. Steve Kelley, Assistant Scoutmaster, has built a meaningful day of restoration and service for our neighbors in Western North Carolina who are still in need of support to restore their properties and communities following Hurricane Helene.

We have an opportunity for 15-20 Scouts, ages 12-18 alongside Adult Leaders for this important service project in Boone.

  • Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (approximate time frame for return)
  • Our project is a location that was flooded and is still filled with trash and debris which is in need of clearing, removing and organizing debris, tree branches and removing dirt and debris from several outbuildings
  • For safety reasons, we will not be working in unsafe conditions such as taking down large trees with chain saws, being on roof tops or working on or in ponds, streams, etc. We will need to bring some gas powered chain saws and will have Adult Scout Leaders along who are skilled and experienced to operate chain saws or power equipment, if required.
  • Wear clothing for outside work to include full length work pants, class B Scout T-shirt, hat, work gloves and a warm, light weight jacket to wear during the cooler morning hours. Also, consider bringing sunscreen and a poncho in the event of rain.

We do hope you can join us for a wonderful and restorative Great Day of Service!

Last Thursday many of our leaders celebrated accomplishment at the 2025 Wachovia District Awards Banquet.  The Wachovia District awarded eleven specific awards.  Troop 934 was received SIX!  A huge congratulations to the following:

  • Scouts BSA Leader of the Year:  Daniel Lobb
  • Venturing Leader of the Year:  Bryan Scott
  • Commissioner of the Year:  Dr. Phil Golden
  • Veteran Awards:  13 Leaders with a combined total of 250 years of service as a member of BSA!  
  • BSA National Outdoor Challenge Award:  Troop 934 presented to SPL Luke Lobb
  • District Award of Merit:  Mary Walker.  
  • We would also like to recognize George and Diane Clinard for their ongoing excellence and representing Troop 934 as members of the Wachovia District Awards Banquet Committee.

Tomorrow, March 12th at Noon is the FINAL DAY to register for this upcoming weekend’s Spring Camp Raven Knob Campout!

We highly encourage all new Ravens to attend this campout as it is designed to create and foster bonds in the Raven Patrol as well as start to assimilate Ravens into the Troop!

Are you a new leader?  This is the perfect kick off trip!

A few notes:

  • Saturday morning’s ATV session only has one scout registered.  We will need others to join to fulfill this session.
  • The climbing tower is for ravens and all scouts Saturday morning.
  • The Search and Rescue Merit Badge will be after lunch into the evening!

Scouts will not be permitted to attend any camp out without the BSA required health forms:  A, B1, B2, SUPPLEMENTAL MEDICAL, OUTDOOR RELEASE and a copy of the insurance card (front and back).  Meg will reach out to you individually on WEDNESDAY if any paperwork is missing!

As a reminder, paperwork is still due.  We are in need of Health Forms A, B1, B2, Supplemental Medical, Outdoor Release and a copy of the scout’s current health insurance card (front and back).  Forms can be accessed on our website and a copy can be delivered during Monday Meetings.

If your scout has submitted paperwork and any items are missing-a detailed note will be sent home with the scout, as well as an email request.  Please be on the lookout!

Court of Honor: Monday, March 3rd at 6:30

Monday, March 3rd we will host our Court of Honor beginning at 6:30 p.m.  We have many achievements to celebrate and we look forward to hosting your families.  We will also be welcoming in the rising class of Ravens.  

If you have not already submitted your required health forms, please do so as soon as possible.  

If your scout has not selected their merit badges for summer camp, please see Ms. Flores ASAP.

Lastly, as you are executing your spring cleaning please keep the Troop in mind!  We are currently collecting items for our first Rummage Sale on Saturday, April 5th from 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Items can be brought weekly on Monday evenings to our regular meetings.

A few things to note:

  • If you have not already submitted the required yearly health forms, please see Meg Morosco.  Health Forms A, B1, B2, Supplemental Health and Outdoor Release are all DUE!
  • Please be sure to include an updated copy of the scout’s health insurance card.
  • A reminder, Health Form Part C is not due until May 5th, 2025.  
  • If your scout is attending CRK for Summer Camp, you must submit your deposit to Chad Marion as well as notify Ashley Flores to secure your MB selections.
  • If your scout is planning to sell Camp Cards this year, the parent agreement is due.  Should you need an additional copy, please email Meg at the Troop Admin email:  934leaderadm@gmail.com
  • We will have our upcoming COH on Monday, March 3rd beginning at 6:30 p.m.  We have many wonderful scouts, advancements and achievements to celebrate.
  • Lastly, we will be hosting a SPRING RUMMAGE SALE to benefit our High Adventure Scholarship Fund on Saturday, April 5th from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  We will begin accepting donations for the sale on Monday, February 24th!  Should you donation require a pick up, please text Meg at 614-824-0501 to coordinate.

Paperwork due no later than 5/5/2025:

Beginning 2025, we are requiring all health forms to be completed with a physician’s signature in the calendar year to ensure all scouts are current for the entire year.  

We have confirmed with both WFBH and Novant, if a scout has received a well check in the last year, a form will be completed without a physical but the processing time can take up to seven (7) days.  

Forms can be sent to your physician’s office via MyChart.  Please remember, an updated copy of your scout’s vaccine record is also necessary.

  • Health Form Part C:  This is the only form which requires a physician’s signature/stamp.

Welcome Back: First Meeting of 2025

Happy New Year!  We are thrilled to see our Scouts as tomorrow we return to our regularly scheduled Monday meetings.  Please read through the entire email for details on upcoming trips.

Monday Meeting:  Monday, January 6th, 2025

Tonight’s meeting will be for all scouts.  

Please arrive in Class A uniforms and prepared for the meeting to begin at 7:00 p.m.

We have two trips now available for registration!

January Trip:

We are finalizing teams for the Klondike Derby held January 17th-19th, 2025.

To ensure Scouts are well prepared we will be closing the registration on January 8th-one week earlier than most trips!  Scouts will be provided with one final meeting on January 13th before the derby!
